This month I got some new arrangements. One is to play with a Bluegrass band and to be their soloist. Another arrangement is for a guy that wrote a song that played in Radio in Germany, he wants to have a collaberation with me and another musician that wrote the main theme for the tv serie ”Skilda Världar”. He also wants me to play at a mass that is about relations. We haven´t made any decitions yet. We talked about it and I think it sounds interesting. We will see what happens. So no names here on the web yet.
I wrote some new songs but I most say that I get more and more picky about them. I will relax that and try not to judge them before they are finish. That´s what I advice other composers so it´d be stupid if I don´t follow my own advice. The thing is that if I start to question the music before finishing it will never be complete….
My practice in playing bass is sat on ice right now. Maybe I will bring it up later.

It´s Christmas Holidays and right now I´m really concentrating on composing. Every day I try to come up with something new and I notice that my demands for the quality are getting higher. I listen a lot to other composers, mostly pop to get some inspiration and then I take the inspiration and do something with it but with Sofia Ullmans touch on it.
I also started to play the bass. In the beginning it sounded awful with 20 other keys ringing at the same time. But now it starts to get better when I noticed I have to use all my fingers on the strings. I am not patient at all but at the same time very stubborn so lets see what happens….
When I don´t play the piano, flute or bass or sing I go to a locale here in the basement of the appartement with my neighbour and we dance. We do free training and come up with a lot of steps, trying to develope our own styles. We dance streetdance and I mostly dance popping. I think we might go there today again cause dancing is so fun……

Yesterday I had a meeting with the promotor Anders Westin. Anders helps artists to reach out through radio, TV, papers and others. He is  patient to make sure that the artists is shown in media that is good for their image. Right now he is in Stockholm for Björn Skifs show in Globen and we had a meeting during his visit.
It was a good meeting and we talked about music, the future and the songs that I produced with Anders Dannvik. Now we will cooperate and see where it leads us. I cannot talk so much about this before I know what will happen. Like always.
Soon it´s Cristmas and I will concentrate in composing and practicing as much as I can. Hopefully I will do some streetdance too. Tomorrow and Wednesday I have my last days at work and I will play the piano in a church and in a school. That will be fun. I also did arrangements for violin on three songs and I hope it will be beutiful and make people cry, in a good way. Hehehe

The performance at Hotel Quality Win was fine. It was a nice piano to play at and a good soundsystem. Everytime I have a performance I get quite nervous before. It doesn´t matter if it´s a small or big performance, I still get nervous. And so I was before this performance too. Then when I get up on stage, I relax again. The program was a mix between fast and slow songs and I played two sets.
Yesterday I had a day off only playing some music with a friend and relaxing. Today I started to compose again. It went really fine and I am satisfied with my new peace, though it´s not finish yet…..

Tonight I have a performance at Hotel Quality Win in Haninge. I will play the piano and sing my own material. The concert will have a theme if you listen to the texts. The funny thing is that when I put together the program I didn´t think about it. I choose the songs that I really feel like playing. It ended up being mainly the same style according to the texts. The mood changes and so does the songs….

About a week ago an A & R (looking for artists) sent me a mail asking me to be in a competition. The winner gets to be Opening Act for Brian Mcknight. I registered for the competition and the judges would pick out about 20 artists that they belived in for the competition. Tonight I got a mail telling me to go in on :www.openingact.se to see if I advanced in the competition and I did. I found my name there so now I want everybody to vote for me in the competition. To vote you send a textmessage to number 72500 and write: ”Oa 1 Sofia” (the letter o, not the number)

My 3 songs are now recorded. Jippi! Anders Dannvik has done a great job and the songs are really good hits. For the ballad I arranged a violin part and my friend Helena recorded it here in my studio. Then I sent all the tracks on the song to Anders and we put some more strings on it and put an untuned piano on it.
Maybe it sounds strange with an untuned piano but the thing is that it was a great compliment for the strings, the ballad has a modern sound now.
Since Anders and I are friends he has helped me quite much to guide me in the musicjungle. I also have some requests to attend a music competition and to play a Christmas song on the radio.
And in 3 weeks I will have a concert on the Hotel where we recorded my musicvideo.
I think it will be mostly ballads cause I will sit by the piano.

Right now I´m on vaccation because  it´s Halloween. I am really concentating on writing new songs to complement my 3 new songs that I record with Anders.
Some days it goes well and some days I have no inspiration. I have some really good texts coming straight from my mind after some really deep thoughts. I did save them and put music to them. Tomorrow I´m going to Anders again to complete my ballad ”I deny”. I am really really pleased with what he has done for the songs. He did really well and the songs feels like great hits! I have to stop now cause I want to get on with the songwriting. See ya soon.

Last weekend I was in the studio with Anders and he pushed me to sing in a way I have never sang before. It gave me a lot of pressure to be as good as possible. He wanted me to sound like an afro-american woman and improvice tunes at the same time + improvise the lyrics. This was in a small piece at the end of a song. I tried and tried and he pushed me more and gave me more inputs.
I tried and tried and though I sing a lot and practice music every day it got to much for me. I got a terrible performance anexiety and had to go out from the studio to take a break and think it over.
But the rest of the day went fine though the terrible feeling was in me for awhile before I got it out. I don´t usually get that feeling when I play music but I guess it was a good thing that he pushed me to get better.
We agreed that I shall arrange the strings for the slow songs so I tried yesterday to arrange a bit of the song. It was hard because it just happened a terrible thing, my grandma died this Thursday. I got really sad and sometimes I had to stop playing but at the same time I want to play it for her. All music I compose now is for her, including the strings arrangement. It´s to hard to write about this so I have to stop here but I write again when feeling better…….

Today Anders showed me the guitar that was added on 2 of the songs while I was in London. The gutiarist didn´t get much of directions more than to play pop, r´n´b with a modern sound and play a lot with it. We wanted to see what he could manage.The first song ”I heard you” was great, by my opinion. It was a lot of cool effects and small fills on the guitar that sounds fresh and cool. On the other song I thought the guitar was a little bit to jazzy and kind and generally I wanted more ”oa oa” guitar (I have no clue how to spell it).
Anders came up with a great idea. He did a variation on Snoop Doggy Doggs synth/vocal-sound and recorded my voice, then he mixed it with a synth sound and put some effects on it. It sounded great!
We worked on the song ”If I say so” and he cut it so we got a whole version of it with recorded song.
Tomorrow we will continue with Choir and lead vocals on the song ”I heard you”.
